TSURURADIO Vinyl Preservation Society Presents… A to Z Mixtape!!!

Mixtape Project No. 1, a song for each letter of the alphabet. The reason for the season? You ever play your ipod in alphabetical order by song and notice that the mix ain’t too shabby? Well, we created a mixtape with you in mind. Is the idea the most original? I don’t know, but the results are fucking amazing! Each member posted a single song, in order, and 26 songs later, BLAM-O! Awesome mixtape!

New, old, vinyl, digital, all covered. After a quirky fun start by the Parenthetical Girls, it slows down, creating mood and drama, waiting, like a tiger, to hit you upside the head somewhere toward the end of “I Don’t Like You Anymore”! Then the roller coaster begins (represented quite nicely by “My Favorite Year”), and genres & styles start flying around (you think “dropping rhymes” is hard? try dropping genres, mother-bitches!). Until, after a stirring epicesque “Y” song, Walter School says goodnight with some “Zombies”. Nice…

Don’t take my word for it, try it out! But first, let me say, I hope you enjoyed our little TSURURADIO Unintentional Mixtape Week, it was a lot of work (and a lot of music shared), but man was it worth it. When you think about how many albums I listen to in a week, I’ve never had so much fun as I have with the insane number of mixtapes posted & created by our music lovers down in the society this week (and, I’m sure, in the coming weeks).

Okay, tender bittle mushy pants moment over, time to listen to some good times as the…

Apparently it’s mixtape week here at Tsururadio…. who knew?

Seems the inaugaration of the mixtape forum continues, as auxiliary & honorary society member, Sunshine Claire (read: Tsurubride & I are friends with her in real life & everything, I know, crazy, eh? the real world, a scary place indeed) put together a pretty fucking sweet mixtape of some good times she’s been particularly enjoying. Unfortunately, it was only in hard-copy, but have no fear! A little bit o’ this, a little bit o’ that (i.e. I ripped, tagged, zipped, uploaded & set up the links the society & site) and BLAM-O! I had us a sweet two volume mixtape of some amazing music tracked up perfectly for our enjoyment, some songs you know, some you may not, but no matter, load ‘er up, turn ‘er up, and smile…

I hope I can get one more up before the weekend’s up, so many good ones down in the society, whichever shall I pick??? Eeny meeny, miny moe…. You know, this may be a little while, so why don’t you just scroll down and enjoy this one as the…

It’s not everyday I have a super-duper idea for the Tsuru Corporation Supernation Exclamation Celebration… but finally one was launched into the world like a the most gratifying burp after chugging a 2-liter jug o’ Root Beer! Yay! As you know, I’m quite the mixtape fan, I’ve been making them since I owned audio equipment. From recording them off the radio to building them from my record collection, to sharing them from the mass amounts of music that comes my way, they have been a wonderful part of my life, a way to set moods, share obsessions, and give people a musical snapshot into who & where I am. I’ve generally been on the giving end, mostly because I don’t have a lot of mixtape makin’ friends, but finally it dawned on me that I’ve been missing out!

We have a great group of society members that constitute our music-lovers brigade, and it was high time we built a vehicle, a wing (if you will) in our hallowed society halls, a place where they can put their mixes, share their own snapshots, moods, and mindsets. And wow! Did they bring it! Over the weekend members started putting up all kinds of mixes, a Day/Night mix from one, a 11-song power mix from another, and many others! Old songs, new songs, mainstream & indie, dance to rock to pop…

That’s great and all, but what really got me, personally, was how emotionally struck I was by the mixtapes. Listening to each was kinda like peaking into a musical diary of sorts into the creators, into what music drives them, makes them who they are, or just fits certain moods & situations they find themselves in… Sometimes surprising choices or transitions, but you can’t say one negative thing about it, because that’s what music is, an emotional connection with no right or wrong. I may not like, for example from today’s special share, Snow Patrol or whatever, but gahrace felt a connection to “How To Be Dead” in a way that required it fit perfectly in the 17th spot of her mix Obsess About It. Listening to it in that light changes the song, changes it’s place in my music world because I’m now forced to look at it through her’s… And really, how awesome is that?

What follows is just one of them, chosen because I burned it for Tsurubride (it’s got some fun dance on it) for the car and because it’s a lot of fun! But they are all great. Join up and listen, or better yet, share your own!

Until then, enjoy as the…

TSURURADIO Presents… Youth, Love, And Pavlov’s Thirsty Dog Mixtape!!!

Another mixtape already? Fuck yeah! Three songs that I’m just stuck-stuck on, pushed me, near-begged me, to get another going. This all happened yesterday as I kept tinkering with my ipod to hear the 3 songs over and over. Said “fuck it”, built a playlist, started adding more songs, before you know it, I had a full CD worth of amazing tracks, pull a recent photo of mine that seemed to capture it all, a little flow tinkering in the playlist, and BLAM-O! Mixtape!

Yay!

The three tracks to which we owe such gratitude? SJ Esau’s “Frustratiting”, Stars “A Thread Cut With A Carving Knife”, and Portugal. The Man’s “1989″ (which is stuck to “Our Way”, making a great ending before our outro song “Horsetail Feathers” by Final Fantasy). For three very different reasons, each song just held on to my ears. “Frustrating” for it’s quirky fun dancable beat and choir chorus, Stars for their bombastic & romantic we-are-at-war-with-the-world sound, and of course, “1989″ a song that makes me think back to when I was nineteen, forcing me to think about where I’m at now, how those different those two people are (yeah, really fucks with my head).

The result… a mixtape that, in my opinion, has got quite a bit o’ boogie in it with the occasional slow down & heart tug. Pretty cool, eh? I hope you enjoy it, I hope you can feel & hear each song the way I do. But you know, even if you don’t, you still got a mixtape out of it, and that’s better than nuffin! So, let’s get to it as…

A Going Away Present as TSURURADIO Presents… I’ll Look At You And Say It’s The Happiest I’ve Ever Been Mixtape!!!

Well it’s time to say good-bye
For the weekend
But darling, I promise you this

I’ll send you all my love,

Everyday in a mixtape

And seal it with a kiss…

Alright my friends… it’s time for baby and I to ship out to French-Canuckland a.k.a Montreal for a nice long weekend getaway. We’ll be renting bikes, seeing what there is to see, eating what there is to eat (poutine, anyone?), and generally escaping our normal life for a few days. But before we go, I didn’t want to leave you empty-handed, so I built up this little mixtape as a going-away present, of sorts.

There’s no theme this time really, just music I’m enjoying the hell out of by bands or albums I may or may not have posted on. I think all songs are new to tsururadio.com, but if not, it wouldn’t matter. It’s about flow and good music, right? And I think that’s what’s accomplished here.

This time, we start off a little bit anti-climatic with a rough gem from The Unicorns (did you get that play on words?). Followed by something French to get me in the Montreal mood before flowing into a steady stream of pop goodness. Also (and you may not even care, but) the ending is little different… listen and you see it’s ended by two, that’s right TWO, “epic” style songs before a quiet outro by all-around genius Colin Meloy and his cover of “Dance To Your Daddy” by Shiley Collins takes us out (as I’m prone to do on my mixtapes).

That about covers it, 20 gemtastic gems, zipped up, with a bit of artwork to boot! We’ll be back Monday night, but if I get some time (read: wake up way earlier than baby and nurse some cafe au lait) I’ll see about getting some photos up while we’re there. But that’s neither here but it is there. Let’s get the music going to keep the tears from a-flowin’ as…

TSURURADIO Presents… I’ll Look At You And Say It’s The Happiest I’ve Ever Been Mixtape!

3. Noah & The Whale – 5 Years Time
4. Mason Jennings – I Love You and Buddha Too
5. Cloud Cult – Chemicals Collide
6. Joan As Police Woman – To Be Loved
7. Woodpigeon – Bad News Brown
8. Lackthereof – Choir Practice
9. Water School – Festival
10. Ra Ra Riot – St Peter’s Day Festival
11. Vetiver – To Baby
12. The Donkeys – Bye Bye Baby
13. Fleet Foxes – Anyone Who’s Anyone

17. The M’s – Breakfast Score
18. Okkervil River – Blue Tulip
19. Sunny Day Sets Fire – Smallest Heart on Earth

Have a great weekend! If you are up in Montreal and see this guy walking around, make sure you stop and say “Bonjour!”. AND, if you need more music to hold you over until we get back, you know where it’s at, right? Right???

HERE!!! ;)

Until next time…

Peace, love, & LPs,
Tsuru

P.S… Speaking of Montreal, last night we saw Handsome Furs over at Skullys. Holy shit… amazing show. Just the two of them on stage, Dan on guitar and vocals, and Alexia on synth/drum machine/noise maker/etc. Frenetic energy (and pretty fucking adorable together)! Mostly new songs, maybe about 3 or 4 song from Plague Park. Needless to say, I’m extremely excited for the new album, more than ever! It seem to be a healthy mix of aggressive guitar and electro-dance-ish-thing, but still decidely Furs. Maybe instead of Handsome Furs, it’s a bit more Balls-to-the-Wall Furs! WOOP! Ha! Anyway…. see you later!

From Islands to Wolf Parade, REM to Destroyer, Cloud Cult to Magnetic Fields, this year has just been oozing with so many good times, the idea of compiling a best songs of ’08 now that we are approaching the half way point was a bit daunting & overwhelming to even think about (I have no idea what I’m going to do at the end of the year!), so…. for today’s mega-awesome-super-post-multi-volume-mixtape, at my lovely wife’s recommendation, I recruited the amazing members of the Vinyl Preservation Society to offer up their favorite tracks of this first half of 2008. Well, a week and over 50 tracks submitted later, I was ready to make a humble little mixtape.

So, I loaded everything up to start sorting through… but as I listened, something happened, I just couldn’t delete anyone’s tracks! I wanted to keep them all, but to do so would be a mixtape big enough for 3 CDs! Well, I have one rule on mixtapes, whenever possible, do not repeat an artist. So, great, I deleted about 5 songs, and I deleted one that was from 2007, but then I added a few of my faves that were missed and still, 3 CDs worth of mixtape.

BLAMO!

Fuck it. I would only do 2008 and the efforts of these artists to shame to delete anymore, and hell, you know we are probably missing some great songs to boot! So, up it all went and we are offering it up to you. Now, I put it togther the tracklist to give it some good flow, I hope you like it… if not, well hell, sorry, geez, kinda testy for someone who just downloaded a million songs. lol… Anyway, go get yer downloadin’ hats on, get your ipods or CD burners or whatever warmed up, and get ready for 3.4 hours of some of the best tunes this year has offered up as the…

Oh man, are you guys in a more treats! What started on Friday will only continue this week as we present more “Presents…”! Member vinyl rips & today’s little share, our latest mixtape! This one was inspired by my failed attempt to reconcile (nice word, eh? probably using it completely wrong, but at least I’m trying! I need to beat baby at scrabble one day!) combining Destroyer’s Trouble In Dreams with Hello, Blue Roses The Portrait Is Finished & I Have Failed to Capture Your Beauty… into a boy-girl-boy-girl album. I was going to call it Destroy Your Blue Roses, get it? Yeah, not so good, it failed.

But, out of the ashes came (what I think) is a pretty sweet mixtape. The idea was now to make a cohesive flow of equal parts male and female led songs. The final draft is actually the third draft. The first one was Side Boy (all boy songs) then Side Girl (all girl songs), but then it became a boy-girl-boy-girl affair (well, actually, girl-boy-girl-boy), allowing my baby and I to take turns singing in the car, ’cause we are super cool like that.

I hope you enjoy it, it’s got a mix newer music, older music, and bands already featured here. All-in-all, the music and flow was more important than making sure I’ve never featured a song before (the music is ALWAYS king). Okay, that’s it, grab, load it up, and enjoy as…

05 thedø – At Last
06 The Black Keys – Psychotic Girl
07 Sia – Electric Bird
08 Andrew Bird – Fake Palindromes
09 Soko – I’ll Kill Her
10 Gentlemen Auction House – Blissful Things Go
11 Adele – My Same
12 Girls In Hawaii – Found In The Ground
13 Sera Cahoone – Only as the Day Is Long

15 Cat Power – The Greatest
16 Sunset Rubdown – Us Ones In Between
17 New Pornographers – These Are The Fables

Presents… The 16 Most Awesomest Tsururific Albums of 2007 with Accompanying Mixtape!!!

December 27, 2007
By
Photography & Album Cover “Distorted No. 1″ by Tsuru

Well allo-allo, my dear friends! One last thing to wrap up before we head back to normal operations here at Tsururadio headquarters, and it’s a DOOZY… our “best of” list for ’07. But it’s not just any list, no, no, no, this is The Most Awesomest Tsururific Albums of 2007 with Accompanying Mixtape list AND mixtape!!! WOOP!

How awesome is that? Yeah, I know, pretty fucking awesome, in fact, the awesomest!!!

NOTE: There will be alot of exclamation points in this ridiculously huge post, get over it now…

What follows are the 16 of the crème de la crème albums from one amazing year (a good chunk of them surprising, and sometimes mind-bogglingly underrated in the list-making community). Why 16, you ask? Well… that’s how many artists fit on the mixtape, of course, and as we all know, the music is more important than the lists it creates. Can I get an “amen”???

Okay, let’s get to it, shall we???

*insert fanfare & forced applause here*

T S U R U R A D I O
In association with Starbucks Coffee

Proudly Presents…

The Most Awesomest Tsururific Albums of 2007 with Accompanying Mixtape!!!

(has a ring to it, don’t cha think? Mixtape after the list)

*insert even more fanfare, more applause, women screaming, showing their boobies, and fainting*

16. Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings – 100 Days, 100 Nights

First on our list, at #16, it’s the one, the only, Sharon Jones, the reigning queen of soul, there is no denying. And yeah, my heart still belongs to 2005′s Naturally, this album saw her stepping away from the funk a smidge and deeper into soul. A wonderful collection of tracks, but don’t forget Ms. Jones, you are the sexy funk queen too!

15. Iron & Wine – The Shepherd’s Dog

Speaking of progressions, Iron & Wine’s growth to a larger sound was perfect. A bit of this, a bit of that, it almost, well, it almost rocks! But not really… Can’t wait so see what’s next in Mr. Beam’s mind.

14. The National – Boxer

It’s hard for me to listen to this and not think about other bands (in particular, Morphine). It’s not fair, because this is a great album that got stuck in my ipod many days (and was the soundtrack for a few nights as well)…

13. Stars – In Our Bedroom After The War

Nearly impossible to follow up Set Yourself on Fire, these lovely Canucks gave it an amazing go, one song, “My Favourite Book” even ended up on our wedding mixtape! It’s melodramatic, hearts-on-sleeve-wearing over the top pop. Mmm…

12. Okkervil River – The Stage Names

I think I hate these little write ups already… Didn’t I write about this album once? (uh oh, c’mon Tsuru, be “in it” to “win it”!) What else can I say? Just rocking good times that reward you over and over on subsequent listens, not just musically, but lyrically as well (a lost art in this commodity music world we are becoming). Yeah, this album is fucking brilliant.

(Okay, I’m pretty tired. Heading to bed more in the morning while everyone sleeps)

11. The Most Serene Republic – Population

Good morning! Time for number eleven! Another over the top one… this time it’s a bit proggy, bit jazzy, a bit classical, and tied together with a rock/pop twisty tie! Perfect.

10. Sultry Canadian Feist – The Reminder

Look, it’s on a million lists, it’s on a million apple commercials, it’s even on a million times on VH-fucking-1! Do I really need to say anything? It’s a great album, not as good as Let It Die, but that would’ve been a near impossible feat now, wouldn’t it? If, when you first listened to “1, 2, 3, 4″, you didn’t smile & want to dance, well, you might just be a little dead inside.

9. Loney, Dear – Loney, Noir

Oof. Wow, our first vinyl rip, I listen to this album all the time. Near-perfection. I still get goose-bumps when that bass kicks in on “Saturday Waits”… And that voice, man it will haunt you.

8. Andrew Bird – Armchair Apocrypha

I always liked Bird fine, but it wasn’t until I heard the song “Armchairs” that I nearly built a man-crush over this geeky violinist. This is one of those albums that’s stayed in our stereo since we got it and we just push play and enjoy our evening…

7. R.E.M. – Live

FINALLY! A proper live album by REM. And I’ll tell you, much to the dismay of the “they suck without Berry” fans, they did not take the easy route with the old standard songs (they even excluded “It’s The End Of The World”!), nope, not Stipey, instead they put up the less-loved (and sorely underrated (man, I’m going to use that word alot, aren’t I? I hate myself already)) newer songs. And why not? The band has evolved, as it always have (thank god), but they have always sounded like REM. There are two types of music fans, as someone once wrote, U2 fans & REM fans…. I, my friends, am a REM fan.

6. Arcade Fire – Neon Bible

No, they couldn’t possibly follow up Funeral and live up to the expectations of the indie-blah-blah-blah wah-wah-wah world. Whatever, no matter. So what did they do? They took it over the top, bombastic, and played a really really loud pipe-organ in a church and knocked me off my ass! Also, it’s the reason this humble slice o’ internet of mine got started, as a way to share the leaks with a board that banned all links to music… ha! And here we are, a year later.

*tender*

5. The Shins – Wincing The Night Away

Warning, this album is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED! (I’m cringing everytime I use that word, but what other word is there?) No, it ain’t Oh, Inverted World, (get over it). There was a subtle shift, into this dream pop world they created, that is all their own, where their incoherent lyrics and beautiful harmonies fit perfectly with their underwater melodies, resulting in this wonderful album that is probably the most-played album in the Tsuru household (well, this and Wainwright’s Poses & Sexsmith’s Blue Boy), and the first in our top 5.

4. Broken Social Scene Presents… Kevin Drew

To call this a stripped down Broken Social Scene would be a bit misleading. A stripped down Broken Social Scene still sounds larger than most bands on the circuit today! This is one hell of a big album and took me a good number of days to absorb it all. Once I did, it lodged itself in the best of the year and never looked back.

3. Handsome Furs – Plague Park

No album has ever captured that tired 3am “the party’s over just me, my baby, and the fluorescent lights” aesthetic/mood quite as perfectly as this album. Either you think this album is completely lifeless, droning steady, leaving you bored, or you’ve been there, felt this, and have been waiting for someone to capture it. Handsome Furs did.

2. The New Pornographers – Challengers

What can I say about our #2 spot? It was nearly number one! Without a doubt, this is the most played album of the year; in my car, in the gym, in my daily life, and even with the Mrs. (why isn’t it #1, well, you’ll see in a sec). Challengers saw The New Pornographers make that final leap to becoming a 100% certified real band, in my eyes (we saw glimpses in Twin Cinema, see “The Bleeding Heart Show“). Where before, their music was incredible, but it was mostly sugar, so sweet, and nearly all empty calories. Challengers brought the meat course, with a side of baked potatoes (but sweet potatoes, they ARE The New Pornographers, afterall), the songs are slower, stronger, longer lasting, more filling, and well… you get the analogy by now, right? I could never do a proper post on them, as the Web Sheriff was all over this one (too bad, I think it hurt them a bit, PR-wise, though the “Executive Edition” thing Matador did was gold!). I only hope that the powers that be let me keep the selected song in the mixtape in (it’s one of our favorite songs) and let the love of this band finally be shared!!!

Alright, kiddos, the time has come for number one and who, you ask, has TSURURADIO’s top album of the year??

Which album fills every musical orifice of mine with happiness and pleasure?

Which album is like a long walk on a beach followed by a candle-light dinner?

Which album is like a second set of footprints in the sand?

NOTE: lol!

Well, it’s none other than…..

1. Sunset Mother Fucking Rubdown – Random Spirit Lover!!!

Yep! Shall we talk about underrated again? This gem isn’t showing up on nary a list! Meh, they are all missing out. Random Spirit Lover is the perfect balance of pop, rock, and “indie-prog” (trademarked 2007 Tsururadio.com). I think it threw a lot of casual Sunset Rubdown fans off because Spencer Krug took his little side project and expanded it in every single direction he could, there are layers upon layers, twist and turns, and every song belongs attached to the song before and after it, as one giant piece of work! Every single time I listen to it (which is a ridiculous amount given how complex it is) I hear something new, I get a little deeper, and just when I think I got it all, there’s more! The last time I heard something this overwhelming would have to be In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. Yep, you heard me. “Sacrilege” you say? More like “Sac-delish”, yummy! (Oh snaps!) This is not experimental bleeps & bloops, nor is this cool pop or rock music, nor is this some “reunited 90′s band”, no, this is music for music-geeks. We will never be cool listening to this album and guess what… we don’t give a shit.

Congratulations Mr. Krug! I heart you! Your trophies in the mail!

NOTE: Looking at #3 and #1, one may think I’m a huge Wolf Parade fan. Actually, I’m not. I like Wolf Parade fine, but each man, on his own kicked my ass. Though, after this year, I’m very excited to see what the new Wolf Parade will sound like. Will they successfully merge their two sounds or will they shoot for a progression of Apologies To The Queen Mary? Either way, I’m pretty anxious to find out…

Oh man, wasn’t that fun? I’d like to thank god and mom and my wife (we did it baby!) and my girls, so many people, I hope I don’t forget…. ha!

Alright, alright, as you and I both know, I’m not one just to throw out a list and call it a day. No, no, my fellow pervy-ninjas, we at tsururadio always go at least one step further, something you’ve come to expect I hope. So, we took a song from each of the above albums and made a bad-ass mixtape! And, I gotta say, I’m really happy with the way it came out.

*Pats self on back*

Now, some of you who peaked ahead (shame on you!) may have noticed there are two Sunset Rubdown songs, and you are right, how observant. Let me explain myself… Random Spirit Lover, to me, is not a collection of songs, it’s truly an “album”, in fact, like I wrote above, it’s like one giant song! It was painful to separate just one, so I went with a duet (I almost went for a lovely trinity, the holiest of song cycles (see “Ghost / Untitled / Two-Headed Boy Pt. II” from Neutral Milk Hotel’s masterpiece In The Aeroplane Over The Sea) but I thought that might be overkill. Also, well, I couldn’t let the number one NOT have the greatest amount of airtime on the mix, could I? Yeah, no. So, it’s on, baby, as…

So many artists, too many to link, so go show all these artists the love and support they deserve… Sorry about using Feist and Nina twice, but given that each had one song relegated to a specific duty, we figured they each deserved one more to dance to…

Love is a mixtape, my friends… Hope you enjoy ours.

Ciao!!!

Presents…. Et Al, a Decemberists mixtape

My mixtape posting finger has been itching since I’ve been working so much on the wedding mixtape. Sorry though, that mixtape won’t be up until November on my last post before we go get married and head out to Italy.

BUT! FEAR NOT!!! I’ve got a special treat for you instead, something to hold you over, a little mixtape I concocted, that I like to call The Decemberists …Et Al. I like the literary term, seems… appropriate, eh?

Posting a Decemberist mixtape isn’t completely random… The Decemberists have actually played a critical part in my relationship with the incomparable & incomprehensively beautiful TsuruBride, we got engaged the night of the last time Decemberists played here (we got commemorative t-shirts! lol…), and we are seeing them the Thursday night before the wedding for the Long Of It portion of their tour. The crane and it’s meaning in Japan has been a central theme to many components of our life, including the name of this site (Tsuru is Japanese for Crane).

So… I’ve got a mixtape itch? I means ta scratch it! Now, again, this ain’t no “best of” or “greatest hits”, this is simply a fun sampling of songs I love my Decemberists but assembled in an order to I believe makes for a fun listening experience. Let’s get to it, shall we. I hope you enjoy as…

TSURURADIO Presents… R.E.M. Live Not Live!!!

Hey REM fans, don’t know if ya heard or not, but looks like REM is finally putting out a live album (took ‘em long enough), apparently it’s a double disc & DVD. Now, I’ve been a fan of REM since Green came out and I played that record to the bone. If I remember correctly, “You Are The Everything”, “Orange Crush”, and “Inside Out” owned my young ass in them late 80′s (of course, the video for Pop Song ’89 helped (yay for boobies!!)…

;)

Somehow or another, the band has crept along now for twenty-something years, and no, I’m not going to bitch about the band after Berry’s amicable leave, Reveal was beautiful (so underappreciated) and Around The Sun & Up had some amazing moments, so, uh, suck it… wah, wah, wah. lol. Anyway, the live release will have some uncommon live performances and a decent mix of old and new, so it will be nice to finally have a non-bootleg live recording of possibly one of the best American bands ever.

So, what have I got for you today? Well, this was fun… I took the playlist for the live release and grabbed all the songs from the discography, put them in order of the release, zipped it & loaded her up! Now, one change in the line up, I have yet to hear a decent version of “I’m Going To DJ” (track 21 on the release), so we skip that. To make up for it, I’ve added 3 unreleased b-side covers I love and have had (and enjoyed profusely) for forever.

Pretty cool, eh? Who loves you like I do? =) Alright my friends, it’s time to do this thing…

TSURURADIO Presents… I Just Want To Dance In Your Tangles

Wouldn’t you know, it’s already mid-summer-ish. Where does the time go? Goodness…

Well, between our bocce ball, booze, and barbeque fest we are having tomorrow (a BBBBBQ if you will) and an accumulation of albums & wonderful songs on my ipod, it was time for another installment of one of my favorite features… yes my friends, it was time for a new TSURURADIO Presents Mixtape.

Now, some songs are from previous posts, some are new, and some are a little bit older, but all-in-all, it’s a summery theme tainted with the occasional morning thunderstorm (doesn’t that just sound lovely?)… After a number of repeat listens (and a few tweaks), I’m happy with the end result. I hope you are too. Time to shut up, as you’ve got some downloadin’ to do!

Enjoy!

*edit (07/29) — Well, looks like the mean ol’ Web Sheriff is up to his old tricks again. I got a little request to remove “Unguided” that was appropriately unfortunately delegated to my spam filter. So, not wanting to get sued or some shit, there has been a change in the line up with “Myriad Harbour” subbing for the forbidden tune. After a quick listen, I actually think I like the mix better this way. Who knew… thanks for making the mixtape even better, Web Sheriff!

Presents… a Weezer mixtape!

May 1, 2007

Happy May Day, my dear readers…

As the warm winds finally kicked in, May can only mean one thing to me, Weezer. As I drove on the highway, fishing for something different to listen to, literally this little mixtape fell out of my CD folder. I think I made it in ’05, maybe early ’06, not too sure. Well, I gave it a spin and much to my enjoyment (and surprise, it’s been a while since I’ve nodded my head aggressively to these guys), found myself cruising along well above the speed limit, volume turned up too loud, and singing along until I was hoarse.

Now, purists (and rabid Weezer fans), this ain’t no “best of” because I excluded some of the better songs for sake of a better flow, and this ain’t no “greatest hits”, because I didn’t want a chronological CD of all their singles (zzz…), this is simply a mixtape that 1) focused on flow, 2) tried to include a few of my favorite tracks from each release, and 3) tossed in a few b-sides & unreleased tracks to mix it up. It’s meant for the casual Weezer fan who likes the singles, but never really explored much deeper, somthing one can pop in and just push play.

At 22 songs, clockin’ in at almost 78 minutes, at an average speed of 80 mph, you’ve got a good 104 miles covered!

So, without further ado…
