Ah, speaking of Ari, did you know that she now has a radio show, like a genuine real radio show that airs on Friday at 4pm PST? How bad ass is that. It even streams on the intertubals! I was able to catch it a couple times and honestly, it’s pretty sweet.
So…. on Friday, whether your chillin’ at home in the evening before going out and shit over on the East coast, or about to head home on the commute out on the west side, check in & check her out!
Speaking of awesome women…. oh my, I’ve got a treat for you folks today as Ms. Kori Pop was sweet enough to send me a copy of her debut gem from rural Ontario called From The Outskirts!!!
Mathamatically, it was impossible for me not to like this. Sugar-coated singer-songer pop from Ontario AND led by a, if I may be so bold, beautiful woman with an amazingly perfect voice for her sound?
Then, add in the email she sent out:
My name is Kori Pop (as it appears on my birth certificate…just a side note).
Not long ago I released my first record From The Outskirts. The album was made in a barn located in rural Ontario, not far from my house. I would love if you could spare a little time to give the album a few listens.
And the album? I keep over-using the word “sweet” but it’s hard not too with that voice. But, to leave it at that would be misleading and unfair to Pop as the album definitely branches away from a sound that would be almost too fitting for a kindle ad…
Songs like “Shooken Up” are almost dripping in blues & swagger, plus there’s tons of the Ontario roots rock flavour sprinkled here and there (see: “Crack My Eyes”). Or, the coffee-house “Wonder Full” –Mmm… coffee — with, what I swear, is bits of Peter Gabriel in the backing vocal??? Oh my, indeed!
All I know is, if Kori Pop and Emma-Lee (also from Ontario) were to put together a duet, I might just explode! What can I do to make this happen????
Well.. Until then, enjoy!
