Still busy, still Somewhere On The Golden Coast by The Henry Clay People!!

Have you ever noticed that I don’t really post Hold Steady outside of maybe a tsuruloosie or two? Honestly, not my cup o’ tea, you know? It’s not the music so much as it’s the Randy Newman voice belting out bar rock songs. Nothing against them, his voice is his voice, but when ever I hear a song I can’t separate it from, say, the theme song from Monk or whatever.

Well… I think I may have finally found a bit of near-bar-rockish music that, for whatever reason (if I could explain my brain, I’d be much farther along a very different career path), has fulfilled for me what Hold Steady has done for so many of you in Somewhere On The Golden Coast by The Henry Clay People!

Go figure, eh?

I know, probably makes no sense, but hey, I can’t help my brain man, but when I listen to Somewhere On The Golden Coast I just get this working class rock vibe that I can’t shake. Yet, instead of visions of Monk dancing in my brain or some Pixar movie, I’ve bouncing around, rocking out, singing along to whoever the hell is singing!

That’s really all there is to it, so simple, yet so good. First few times starting up this album, I wasn’t convinced, but once I just let it go, let it be, it hit, good & hard. Love it….

You want some working class rock with some dashes of punk? You need to check out The Gaslight Anthem. Seriously. They’re like if Springsteen fronted The Clash.

Love this, “Springsteen fronted The Clash”, I’ll have to remember that! For some reason, I don’t have them on my player, that.. I’ll have to remedy!

Keep up the GREAT work, Tsuru.
