I dont have much to report today other than the fact that I’ve been job hunting and watching Pushing Daisies non stop for a week, so let’s just dive in then, aiight?
With the the release now of 3 singles (single? idk… track i guess) off upcoming album
/ \ / \ / \ Y / \, and of course some New York Times bullshit and trash talking, M.I.A. is all over the place. I’ve been a little underwhelmed to be honest. I used to be a big M.I.A. gal: saw her “final” show at Mccarren Park Pool in Brooklyn a few summers ago, ran to Kala at the gym every day, etc. Lately her buzz is turning more into attention stint after stunt and I guess I’m a little wary of her ….realness. Anyway, I just caught wind of this Jay Z remix of XXXO and fuck, I’m a fan. But I guess everything Jay Z touches turns to gold afterall, eh?

Tim and Eric and Black Francis (of the Pixies). Funny. That’s all.

Levi’s is currently running this Levi’s Pioneer Sessions campaign and I think it’s great. Their taking todays fabby artists and having them cover some of the shit that inspired them (or whatever.) Last week (old school week) I came upon She & Him’s cover of Fools Rush In and I meant to post it, cause it was so fitting and all, but somehow forgot. Then I was looking again today and realized they’ve posted a Dirty Projectors version of Dylan’s “I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine” and the Shins version of Squeeze’s “Goodbye Girl,” both of which are also good shit. Downloading is free, just give them your email and they send you the link, so go check it out, and keep checking back for more songs!

Want some tasty trendy tracks? Here are two that have recently been floating around and I recommend.
Twilight! Eclipse soundtrack! Good music for presumably mediocre movies! Probably one of my favorite tracks off the most recent soundtrack is this fresh ass Battles track. I guess it’s a bonus track though, so, I mean, GOOD LUCK FINDING THAT, AMIRIGHT? I’ve always loved Battles, and have been waiting for some sort of Mirrored part 2 for, what, 3 years? So now, maybe it’s coming? Perhaps? :/

Next is this stellar collaboration between Beck and Bat for Lashes, “Let’s Get Lost.” Not sure why I like it exactly. It sort of screams bad 80s music videos and silly sound effects, but I just love the two artists and the feel, so I’m going to give it a thumbs up and walk away.

And here’s a final little itty, just for fun. I got 5 steps between Fuck Buttons and Nelly Furtado.
