TSURURADIO vs. The Needle Drop: TSURURADIO Presents… Drop The Needle Mixtape!!!

I thought about doing a big write up, full of bombastic imagery….  but then, after watching countless minutes of Anthony jibber-jabber on at his v/blog, getting to know the enemy, be the enemy, touch the enemy in his sleep, snuggle with the enemy after slipping roofies in his drink down at the Shampoo Club that one night,  it seemed only appropriate to do this thing vlog-style, eh?

Eh, indeed!

Fuck it, here we go!

Gotta say, weird watching me & hearing me…. Not sure how I feel about any of that at all.  Forgot my glasses, huh, and what is going on with that quaff????

Some kinda quasi-greaser-come-over action???  Was I rocking that shit all day?  Damn!  For the record, that wall is blue, a sky blue.  Maybe next time I’ll go all high-def on ya so you can see all my luscious aging and shit!  Even give you a tour of the Tsuru residence??

This much I AM sure of, what follows is one BAD ASS mixtape, right from my collection, right from my heart, my soul, my balls, and my brain nuggets, spilled out to you, in two-sided vomit sessions, one needle in a groove at a time! Soooooooooooooo, what do you say? Enough talk?  Ya’ll ready for this?

Put yer listenerin’ caps on!

Put yer game face on!

Put yer smilerin’ on!

Put yer Push Play fingerin’ on!

Oh wait…. that didnt’ sound right….

Any tape that starts with the New Pornographers is sure to beat mr Shiny Head’s puny little tape any day!

Well done Tsuru. The Nether Regions are proud of you, just like we always are.

With the exception of a few tracks, I like Anthony’s mix better.

psh, eternal tsuru winnings. any mixtapes that ends on a note as sweeping and dramatic as ‘wake up’ wins by default. high five for excellence!

WOOOOOT! I was a little hesitant, I thought maybe Where The Wild Things promos may have cliched the song a bit… but in the end, I had to go with my heart!

not even a legion of PBR-swilling cool kids can kill the majesty of that opening riff. truth.

I truly lost sleep on that! lol…. But… I think we grounded it with Destroyer and “In Dreams” bookending the song!

Wow, I guess I misunderstood. I thought a “Vinyl” mixtape was tracks from the vinyl era (pre digital CD era). Ya know when all that was available was on vinyl. Not tracks from ’00 which you can get on CD too.

So, per my definition of a true “Vinyl” mixtape, I conclude that TND is the winner! His mix was very diverse and did include some stuff from the actual ‘vinyl” ear. Good job Anthony!

I live in Florida, so does my critique hurt/matter too?

Hey Hawk! Glad to see your comment!!! I think you may have the wrong definition of the “vinyl era”. If 200x to present day has told us anything, is that the Vinyl Era has only just now truly begun! When before there really wasn’t a choice and it was quick to be dumped for tapes & CDs, now when the choice is something as easy & portable & sharable as an mp3, so many people are choosing vinyl………

If BOTH our mixtapes say anything, it’s that vinyl is here and it’s here to stay!

And yes…… every criticism from the state of my birth is weighted just a little bit more due to the humidity it carries with it. BUT… being an aspiring-Canadian, I’m tough and think I’ll be juuuust fine!

Cheers! And I’m sooo glad you came by for a visit to TSURURADIO & The Needle Drop!

Argh! Stuck at work and headed to a bike race afterward, but I CAN’T WAIT to listen!!! If comment volume is any indication, I think you’re rocking several hundred comments per every 1 that Anthony is getting…

  15. May 28, 2010 at 2:36 PM

    Yeah, that was beeaaauutifullll <3, <3, <3, <3, <3, <3

Sorry, wasn't in any way trying to be antagonistic, just awkwardly trying to share my opinion.

I think I understand what you are saying.

Anyhow, maybe my confusion is that the "theme" of the mixtape was very generic, since all the stuff you posted is available digital and vinyl.

Yeah, it's great that many folks are choosing vinyl in a crazy digital world. It's just when I think of vinyl, I think of that orange crate in my closet filled with vinyl releases from the 70's, 80' and a few 90's. Which at the time you could only get in vinyl. And they have that worn but very comfortable sound with pops and hisses.

But, I guess my point is shite since even if those were originally only on vinyl, you can now get a CD version of them today. So, the originality of vinyl is lost actually from that standpoint.

    Both good mixtapes nontheless.

Cool mix. This one kicks ;)
    No doubt: you’re the greatest!!

  19. May 29, 2010 at 12:14 AM

!! Aw jeez. Looks like TND site got overly used today, and is now loading as quick as a lady who was used… overly. In one day.

Suffice it to say, I’ll listening to “Drop The Needle” first!!

Also, even though I have met you, and have seen your place, I really like getting to see you/your place on the vid!! Yay up close and personal!

  20. May 29, 2010 at 10:06 AM

Brother, love the mixtape, Anthony’s feeble attempt to compete was squashed like a frog taking on a mack truck, but gotta complain about your word usage. You’re coiffe (alt. coif, coiffure) is brilliant. Not sure what the hell you’re quaff is, but frankly, I’d rather not discuss it in a public forum.

  21. May 29, 2010 at 11:40 AM

COIFFE????? Oh man….. I had no idea! LOL!!!! I think you’ve seen too much of my quaff on some of our epic bike rides… ha!

@Neil: As for the TND site…. I know I said I was going to “destroy The Needle Drop” I….. I didn’t mean LITERALLY!

  22. August 8, 2014 at 3:04 AM

An impressive share! I have just forwarded this onto a coworker who had
been conducting a little research on this. And he in fact ordered me
lunch because I stumbled upon it for him… lol.
So allow me to reword this…. Thank YOU for the meal!!
But yeah, thanx for spending the time to discuss this matter here on your internet site.
