Instant Karma: New Release Tuesday!

It is said that karma can be a bitch sometimes and whether or not you believe that, one thing is for certain… You & I get a lot of “free” music and as much as free is awesome-o, we need to get better about ponying up, manning up, growing a set, and dropping some “coin” — got I hate the use of that word like that — on the albums we’ve come to love.

The most fun way to do it is to stop into your local record shop, browse around, thumb through the records & CDs, feel them, look at the album art, get an arm full of gems you know and maybe one you never heard before but think the cover looks pretty cool & buy them.  Who knows, you may end up chatting it up with cute sales clerk behind the counter with the tattoos and wondering where else they might have a little permanent ink, falling in love and living happily ever after spinning records until the end of time (i.e. 2012).

BUT, these are busy times and we are busy people and most record shops are long gone, SO… if you can’t get down to one, at the very least, pick up the mp3s at the label or Amazon or something.  I don’t like iTunes as a) I think it is becoming the next great evil meglo-monopoly and b) you don’t really “own” the mp3 through them, if I’m not mistaken, you are licensing the m4a & that’s just kinda wrong.

But, you know, to each their own, eh?

With that, I present to you this week’s notable-to-me releases with linkage to download them at Amazon.  Good karma is a good thing!!!  Happy shopping, where ever you buy them & enjoy!

Very nice post… also, in the new iTunes, with NEW purchases, you can instantly transform any apple encoded AAC file into an unprotected MP3. But still, local or eMusic or Amazon are the ways to go. (Or even better, from the artists personal site if they have it available.)
