I can only speak for myself, but I stayed because it was free & easy. Moving everything over, having it be a fluid move, getting everyone to change their linkage, and basically starting over was a scarier thought than maaaybe losing an old post or two.

But…. in the end, I HTFU and made the move. I’m thankful. It’s a temporary solution to a bigger problem (the label/artist disconnect with those who file DMCA notices), but it’s good for now.

drk, the whole thing is just a stupid hot mess. It’s like your mom giving you candy and telling you it’s okay to share with the neighborhood kids, so you do. Then dad comes home, sees what you’ve done, yells at you, beats you with the belt, & grounds you for it. I should know, that’s like 82% of my childhood.

Mom & dad need to get on the same page or this shit won’t end with blogger.

On a side note: Anyone know of any good & fast & cheap hosting out of Switzerland or the Cayman Islands?

I said pretty much exactly the same thing – legal mp3s with permission, this sucks, etc. – in November of 2008, when the LASTBloggergate hit. Why ALL bloggers did not leave the service at that time is fully beyond me.

having your blog being deleted is a terrible feeling… though i understand because i was posting about 10 albums and eps and a few movies a day… oddlly enough though most of the complaints were from out of print imports and singles.

if i let a friend borrow one of my records is that considered a crime?

i don’t see how sharing something that is easily deleted into thin air and has no physical form or re-sale value is considered a copyright infringement… the day i can buy an overpriced mp3 and resell it when i don’t care to own it anymore i may understand…

i haven’t had any takedown notices since i stopped posting direct links and album covers… seems to work… just have a shared mediafire folder link to my files in the sidebar… we’ll see how that works.
