…where we eschew impossible decade compiling lists and have the wonderful members of our community think back to some of their favourite albums from this past decade and say as many (or few) words about it as they like. This time, grafista remembers Neon Golden by The Notwist… Take it away Graf!
The Notwist – Neon Golden (2002)
I’m not in this movie, i’m not in this song. Never. Leave me paralyzed, love. Leave me hypnotized, love…
Consequence, the closing song on Neon Golden is a perfect love song and a perfect ending on the band’s fifth studio album, released in 2002.
Hard to believe The Notwist started with Punk’n’Metal in 1989 (i remember myself headbanging to Nook :-)), but their sound has evolved by taking the elements of guitar based indie rock and fusing it with experimental electronica. The album combines Pop, Jazz, Ambient and Electronics effortlessly and Markus Acher’s fragile voice has the flow required to carry each single track in the right direction. It’s a dreamy world of atmospheric lullabies and one of my favorite pop album of the 00’s.
