You know I love our community. Whether it be in our little board of music freaks & geeks or over on the facebooks and the twitterers, I consider myself to be one lucky summavabitch. I feel like we genuinely have some of the nicest, most talented, and beautiful (inside & out) community members in all of bloggyland, hell, maybe the entire super-information-intertubal-highway of love!!!
Yeah… I’m a lucky blogger.
Oh, speaking of this blog, how’s your illustrations coming for our Button Illustration Contest?
Already got a couple entries in and man, this looks to be a tough one to judge, but that doesn’t mean you can quit on me.
DON’T YOU DARE QUIT ON ME!
It’s so worth drawing a button, I mean, I really need your help and look at the prize, a Clinton Reno 11 x 17 print of one of his original pieces (the octopus one)!!! So what you waitin’ fer? Get drawin’!!!
So, while you get yer paper and sharpies out, or while you load up your illustrator, or however you plan on illustrating a Vinyl and Interview button, we got a little something special for you to listen to, a little something from that community I was just boosting about like a proud papa.
The other day, I asked the society to give me their favourite songs they’ve enjoyed this year, and man did they deliver — HA! And you thought we were done with 2009???
What’s cool about the songs, 53 if I counted correctly, was not only how diverse they are, but also how many I have never heard myself, that after I hit “publish”, I’m going to stream and listen to a surprisingly large number of them for the first time!
It just goes back to what we were saying the other day during our exciting conclusion of our Most Awesomest Tsururific Albums of 2009 presentation, that with the shear volume of albums out there that you and I may never get around to hearing, it’s really impossible to call years “good” or “bad” anymore. But we already talked about that, didn’t we? Yeah. All I can say is, man, I’m a lucky blogger.
Oh, one last thing before we get to the goodness. We are all voting on our Most Awesomest Societyrific Albums Of 2009 down in the board, BUT voting closes on 12/11, so if you want your voice heard, you best be getting down in there NOW! After it’s done, I’ll be doing some serious spreadsheet compiling & number crunching, as well as putting together an accompanying mixtape of the results! So, keep an eye out for that soon!!!
Okay, that’s it! Let’s get to some music as…
