It’s December 8, Baby’s birthday, so if you’ll give me moment…
Baby, happy birthday love! About time to trade you in for a newer model… HA! Yeah right. You’re stuck with my old ass! =P I love you, sweetie, nothing but the best for you tonight, i.e. $13 champagne and some homemade Czech goulash!!! SMOOOCH!!!
Here’s a picture of her just before getting her cake at last year’s birthday festivities…
LOL! She does loves the LOLCATS (who doesn’t).. Anyways, happy birthday again Baby, hope you have a fun one, or at least I hope that work isn’t all that annoying and we can get our asses home at a decent hour so we can quasi-celebrate? We’ll take what we can get, you know?
Completely unrelated to Baby & her birthday is today’s little gem, a complete surprise as I have no idea who they are but holy shit if The Sleep Tape by The High Wire isn’t one of the most beautiful things I’ver heard in a while!
It’s hard to get away from the words that are and will be thrown about this album, namely “lush” and “dreamy”. Yeah, so far, 2010 is the year of dreamy pop, between Veirs, Beach House and now this. I’m not complaining by any stretch of the imagination, just an interesting note on an early look at the upcoming year.
Like I said, I don’t know who The High Wire is, but this is absolutely gorgeous. It IS lush, it IS dreamy, and travels along in it’s brief 30+ minutes like, well, a dream. Honestly, I don’t know how else to describe it. So, just listen to the first few songs, love it, go get the rest, and see for yourself!

Beautiful, eh? I had an extra un-distracted hour of this album this morning on the trainer (stupid weatherman, rain/sleet/snow my ass, was practically BALMY when I dr— dro— droooooove (ugh) to work), I just closed my eyes, pedaling, and just got lost.
