ONLY TODAY & TOMMORROW IS ALL THAT IS LEFT TO ENTER OUR NEWEST PHOTO CONTEST…. HURRY!!!!
Well, it’s too early on Sunday morning, yet I’m up and about to head out for my first weekend ride on Clementine. I’m stretching out all Flashdance style – seriously, we watched some of that yesterday, she has the most violent stretching out you’ve ever seen!!! Ah, but I used to have a mad crush on Beals…
Damn, I had forgotten all about it, but now it make sense why I think of American Apparel as more of a lingerie shop for us rather than a traditional clothing store. It all makes sense now.
Anywho… last night was gallery hop, it was good times as always, saw lots of friends and got some great swag too! New yellow cycling cap (that actually fits my pineapple-shaped noggin, pictured below), 2 records (leonard cohen & camera obscura), some demo/home-made CDs …from the local band The Lifescouts and/or Trains Across The Sea (hard to tell which was playing), AND a yellow condom from The Garden (local nearby sex shop).
Today, like I said, is Clem’s first big ride, then another motel photo shoot, so busy busy, right? So, let’s get right to it! Yesterday we blew the dust off our lovely old pioneer record player and got our first vinyl rip on the new computer (as well as a few cassette rips for a friend of ours). The results? Not too bad, but I think the our beloved record player needs a little TLC, you can hear a little too much of a needle ring between tracks…. nothing distracting, just a reminder I need to give some love to this old spinner.
The record to get our vinyl rippin’ back on? At War With The Mystics by The Flaming Lips! It’s, not only a beautiful record, but also a beautiful package, full of giant artwork and psychedelically coloured vinyl.
But, is it just me, or does the non-black vinyl never sound quite as good as the traditional black? I know chemically it’s all the same, but I have more problems with non-black vinyl….. Hmmm……… Oh well, the Flips brought the heat with this guitar driven gem, kicking things off perfectly and setting the tone with “The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song” (one of my favourites).
Ah, but here’s the thing… It’s a major label release right? That makes me super-paranoid, so what we are going to do here is share the first side of the first record, get your mouth all watered-up properly, then you either can go buy the rest or, if you need a little more flavourin’, you can come down to our little community of music geeks or be my BFF on the Facebooks! Easy peasy, eh? Here’s the linky-links!
