I resisted listening to this for so long. I LOVE “Doomsday”, it’s fun, fast, nuts and fantastic so suddenly we see a “Slow Doomsday” pop up and my ears say, “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” But alas, it’s hot, it’s hyped, so let’s see what we got. Well, it’s really beautiful, yes, slow & methodical, yes, and completely not “Doomsday” anymore. I do love this version, it’s lovely, but it’s just not right, dammit. Doomsday is nuts! It’s tuba-rific! It’s BABA-BA-BA-BA-BAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Okay falsetto and a repetitive strum-strum-strum starts us off, simple, quiet, gentle-ish, like a stream, but it builds come a minute in-ish. Then more. Then kinda quiet, then rebuilds, etc. It’s a bit repetitive overall over time. Poof. It’s over and we have some ghosts floating around. Hmm. Not sure, kinda like it but something is missing. Is it a transitional song? That would make sense. Hmm….. Not sure.
I like this, but man serious Lion King theme song going here but obviously less “disney” and more authentic, but after 15 years of Lion King, I’d be lying to say it’s easy to separate the two.
Ah very cool. This one takes me back, reminds me of when I was a teenager, all the Violent Femmes, Dead Milkmen, & Camper Van Beethoven I was engorging on. This would’ve fit perfect on one of my mixtapes back in ’89/90! Tiny little song, but sweet, quirky, and a hint of teenage angsty-confusion-awkwardness. Isn’t this Johnston 48? Okay, I think I need to dig into the backstory on this one.

Okay, just checked and this is simply a song off the new album coming out. I’ve listened about 6 times now, it really sounds like it was written from the perspective of teenager. Well, guess we’ll have to wait for the album to figure this one out. Good song though…
