With a flux of new music comes the potential of a new mixtape. All it takes for me is a song or two to stick like a dirty leech to my brain, then suddenly, I start searching out other songs floating around the iPod or iNternet or whatever, songs that hone in around those first few stand out songs. Usually, I’ll end up with too many songs, in a rather random order (except when I just KNOW which song will begin or end the mix), and just play them, over and over, get a really good feel for each one before editing down the number (sorry Woodpigeon & Louise Hull, your cover of “Say Say Say” by Michael Jackson was pretty sweet, but just didn’t fit the feel!) and reorganizing the tracklist. From there, I’ll either mix the songs together or just clean a few tracks up and before you know it… BLAMO! Mixtape is ready to rock and/or roll!
So it was this time, two songs really got this one going quick, fun.’s “Take Your Time (Coming Home)” and Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs’ cover of “I’ve Seen All Good People” by Yes (note to other bands, covering Yes is almost a GUARANTEE to get some “Tsuru Love”), more on that album in a later post, I’m sure. Those two songs and one of my new photos that I’m particularly proud, and we were off! And man, in my humble opine, this one is pretty damn fun. We start things off quick and quirky with some new Islands and then kick it up a notch with some fast & furious hippity-hop action from Busdriver. Then some new Atlas Sound and WHY? and Throw Me The Statue…… just blam, blam, BLAM!
What did Hannibal from the A-Team always say?
Something like that…
Now, you may disagree, you may say this is the worse mixtape we’ve ever presented… and that’s fine, just like I said earlier, to each their own, right? But I’d wager bangers to mash that there’s something in there that’ll either get your rump a-shakin’ or soothe your soul, iron out a wrinkle or two, or sumfin… Yeah, that’s what I thought.
So let’s stop the yappin’, shall we, and get to it, as…

Hey guys, just couple little odds and ends I wanted to shout out at ya for those interested and lord knows my Baby’s fans will definitely be interested in this.
TsuruBride has completed two brand spankin’ new designs (one quite minimal and the other one quite adorable) & is feverishly working on a very special 3rd concept (if she can make it work, it’ll be pretty damn special, indeed), all three have yet to be revealed & released to the world, but I recommend you keep an eye out on her Etsy shop or over at our blog Tsuru And The Bride for photos, details, and availability really soon!
Speaking of indie designers, some of the more alert of you may have noticed down and over to the right that we are supporting two upcoming art & design shows…
YUMMY that runs from mid-August to mid-September and…
The 5th annual Craftin’ Outlaws event in October! Baby & I plan on, not just supporting, but also participating in both (assuming we can get in, tough competition just for a spot). But, either way, I hope everyone within a, oh, let’s say 75 mile radius of Columbus will make their way over and support some wonderful independent artists and designers!
That’s it! Just thought I’d let you guys know…. Have a great day, enjoy the mixtape, and talk to you soon!
