Well… this is it, it’s about time to stop all the jibber-jabber and begging, and put these sexy gams to work. But before I put my lock my cleats into my pedals and make that first downward stroke, I have to say once again, thank you. Thank you so much for all your support, sponsorship, and kind words for the 100 mile ride I’m doing for the American Diabetes Association’s TOUR De CURE tomorrow!
So many people, friends, and family (and even a few strangers) stepped up, clicked through this link and donated everything from $5 to $100 and one (I’m looking at you Caleb) even put up over $100 for our Swag Auction… and in the end, holy Mary Ramirez, mother of Jesus Ramirez, we kicked some major BOO-TAY!!! Like I said, every dollar counts…. and obviously, it really does.
Here, let me give you the low-down, as of right now, we are at……..
excited??? I know I am…..
WOW!!!!! High Fives for ALL!!!!!
Not only did we raise the most on teamroll, but we are 25% of teamroll’s entire total from the 30 person team!!! AND we are the 6th highest fundraiser of the $84,413 raised for ALL the riders in tomorrow’s Tour! AAAND we destroyed Rhonda Frum (seen here in her natural state).
Seriously, that’s simply unreal. You guys are just amazing….. Next up, kicking some diabetic ass!! Oh wait, that sounds like I’m going to beat up diabetics, and lardy knows I can nary beat up an engorged mosquito, I meant we’ll kick diabetes ass! Yeah, that sounds much better.
So, tomorrow… I’ll do my best to make you proud, the weather’s forecast to be nice, and I’ve been doing everything I can to be ready (I’m even *gasp* shaving the gams tonight! haha!) so that come 6:30 am, when the 100 milers head out, I’ll be ready, glistening (from the 1,000 spf aerosol sunscreen) and, as you can see from the photo at the top of this post, representin’ myself, my baby, and, of course, YOU!!!
One thing I wanted to prepare & share before the ride was a little fun good times to help get me through the miles, I considered a mixtape, but this is a looong ride, and a) didn’t think I had a 6 hour mixtape in me and b) a 1 or 2 hour mixtape would only get a bit repetitious & annoying the 3rd or 4th time through when climbing that next stupid hill…. So, today we are doing something a little different. What follows is NOT a mixtape, but simply a collection of songs I loaded up in my old run-down iPod Nano. I put them here in alphabetical order by the song titles (as that’s usually a good natural “shuffle”), but what you are supposed to do is load them into a playlist and play that playlist SHUFFLED and very loud, creating (ideally) a “T(s)OUR De Radio” Station of SIX+ HOURS of nothing but wheeee-lalala-fun-woohoo songs!
Now, I’m not saying all the songs are “good” in the indie-hipster use of the word, there are certainly a few guilty pleasures in the mix (Natasha Bedingfield’s “These Words”? Fuck yeah!) and some we’ve shared before here and there but see, this is just a collection of songs meant to get my legs a-movin, my brain a-driftin’ (away from the pain), and my face a-smilin’! Hopefully, it will do the same for you while you work, walk, clean, sew, ride, run, hike, make animalistic lovins, whatever!
That’s it, I’m ready, ready, freddie, ready, so let’s do this thing!!! As…
