You and I take so much, it’s time to go do the right thing, it’s good karma (and besides, good karma gets you laid), so right now, yeah NOW, go to Google Maps and find a list of your local record stores. Then, when they open, go out and buy some records, CDs, cassettes, posters, random swag, whatever today. And then…. do it again and again for the rest of the year!

If you are here in Columbus, Ohio… here’s a few of my favourites.

Used Kids Records
Lost Weekend Records
Magnolia Thunderpussy

Hope to see you in one of them…. Stop me and say, “allooo!” if you do, okay? And if you are, like Baby, one of my beloved Torontonian Canuckians, pop in some of my favourites there..

Criminal Records
She Said Boom!
Rotate This!

In fact, go here and click on your state to find some participating record stores… but really, it doesn’t matter if they are “participating” or not, because ALL independent record stores need your love & moneys….. Next thing you know, like the mom & pop video stores, they’ll be all gone.

And to sweetin’ your record taste buds (mmmmm….. vinyl), we got a very special little treat for ya, Side A of The Decemberists masterpiece, The Hazards of Love! WOOT!

Side A

1. Prelude
2. The Hazards of Love 1 (The Prettiest Whistles Won’t Wrestle the Thistles Undone)
3. A Bower Scene
4. Won’t Want for Love (Margaret in the Taiga)

Nice, eh? Now…… get your ass down to your record store and get the rest of this and a shit ton more!!! Then come visit us down in the Society or over in the facebooks and show us what you got! HOORAY!!!

:] I like this post. Are you really from Columbus? I don't live very far away, I'm from Cincinnati. Guess I'll have to check out those places next time I'm up to visit my Columbus friends.

Well, I'm originally a Floridian (Tampa), but been here in Bustown for 5+ years and have learned to love this little big city in the midwest…….

Definitely hit the stores, they are all great in their own way! But, selection wise in the "indie" world, Used Kids will take care of you!
