TSURURADIO Presents… I Love You Baby Mixtape!!!

Yeah, I know, like I wrote yesterday or so, we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day (seems a bit forced, don’t you think?), but as a reason to eat some pancakes & turkey bacon, give baby a little self-portrait of me being silly, and put together a little love-themed mixtape, it’ll do just fine.

To be completely honest, this was going to be Tsurucast No. 10: What Is Love, Baby Don’t Hurt Me, No More… good love-themed songs mixed with recordings of me speaking/singing horrible love songs from the 80’s (because, really, that’s when most of them came about), unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point-of-view) that idea failed miserably in execution. Yep, you will not hear me doing, a what was basically open-mic poetry version of, N’ Sync’s “God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You”…

Never thought that love could feel like this
And you changed my world with just one kiss
How can it be that right here with me
There’s an angel
It’s a miracle

Your love is like a river,
Peaceful and deep
Your soul is like a secret that I never could keep
When I look into your eyes
I know that it’s true,
God must have spent a little more time on you

Deep shit, man, deep shit…

Now don’t fret. I didn’t completely hold back on you, I mean, since I’ve been in the spirit of “putting it all out there”, might as well keep it going, eh? So, I’ve added on a “bonus” track of sorts, track No. 21, me covering, accapellas style, Dan Hill’s classic “Sometimes When We Touch“. My recommendation? Listen to it once, point your finger in the general direction of Columbus, Ohio, and laugh until your sides hurt and you feel just a little bit better about yourself. Then, when you burn or upload the mix to your player of choice, leave that one behind. Savour it for those rainy days, when life’s getting you down. Consider a gift from me to you.

The balance, the other twenty tracks, drip with all kinds of loveness, not always the best kind maybe, but love nonetheless, because, what is love if not an adventure, right? It ain’t meant to be all flowers and lollipops, and they aren’t all meant to last forever, but you know what the best part is? Giving it a go. Because love, sadness, sex, exhaustion, misery, and complete happiness are all pretty fucking awesome in their own ways.

But hey, I’ll leave all that jibber jabber to the Dr. Phils and Oprahs of the world. I’m just a guy, who loves a silly love song or two, and likes to share them with you (awww… that rhymed). So let’s do it, shall we? Happy lovey dovey day to all you in love, out of love, breaking up, getting together, cranking one out to some porn, or just waking up next to that stranger you just fucked last night… it’s all good. Love you guys! Now, enjoy as..

Here Comes Your Man is about the atomic bomb… so as long as the person you’re giving that mix tape to never finds that out, it remains a romantic song.

Probably true, but to me, it was a bit more literal than that, as that’s the way it connected with me, with us. And who knows, maybe the atomic bomb is actually about a woman? Lord knows I’ve experienced a few of them….
