T S U R U C A S T No. 9: Leaving New York, Never Easy…

Love it or hate it, New York is nothing if not inspiring, from it’s crappy roads and even worse traffic, to it’s unreal concrete and steel deluxe apartments in the sky to it’s crusty old monuments of an era that may be best forgotten to it’s random maple syrup smell, yeah, it’s a a beautiful shit hole in the best and worse sense… It’s impossible to visit without feeling something.

I do love New York, odds are we’ll live there one day (in our industry, it’s just likely, you know?), but for now, I’m quite content to just visit when the mood suits and/or the need requires, such as I wrote last week, when I was in NY for a quicky business trip. Always the opportunist of sorts, I took advantage of it to record new material for our ninth (damn, nine already?) podcasts!

After our last podcast, it was time to once again embrace our “unhipness” and just let things be what they be. The result is what I think may be our best podcast yet! It tells a story, kinda, a little, not really, as you follow me along from when I board the plane in Columbus to walking near New York traffic all the way until the “bing” tells me it’s okay to stand-up, get my shit, get off the plane, and go home. It’s a plethora of thoughts and emotions and a dollop of some REALLY BAD high school-level poetry written and read by yours truly (hey man, I put it ALL out there for you, you should expect nothing less).

So here we go… you know, it’s funny, with these past three podcasts I’ve been a little nervous to hit that “publish post” button down below. I mean, me singing “I’m on a tsuru… radio!”, or singing along to Jeff Mangum, or reading crappy poetry to thousands of people, it’s not easy to put this out there sometimes. Oof. But fuck it, who am I if not me, right? No one. So, let’s man up, set it up, and do it as…
