Happy Friday!!! WHEEE! WOOOOOOOOOOOT!
Baby & I have a long weekend ahead of us (in a good way). Very excited. Tonight will be pretty chill, but tomorrow is baby’s first lone show as one of select designers to be featured at Tiny Canary that runs all weekend long! Check out the promo…
Who’s that cutie pie in the middle of the second row? So, if you are in Columbus, or within a, oh say, 50 mile radius, come on down this weekend and say “howdy-ho!” Oh, and speaking of sugar smacks, she started up a fun little contest on her web log to win discounts on her designs, just in time for xmas/chanukah/kwanzaa, all you gotta do is search for where that copper cat clutch of her’s keeps showing up online and send her links! And if you look at the flyer above, you already have one on your list.
As if that’s not exciting enough for a weekend, baby & I will be taking Monday off for our one year anniversary. You may remember last year when we put up our wedding mixtape before gettin’ hitched and trapesing off to Italy for ten days. Well, I re-upped the mixtape zip file (not the separate mp3s) for your listening pleasure… First anniversary’s mean a paper-related gift and eating one year old cake, and all the tenderness that will ensue…. Awww. This much I know, I’m one lucky mother fucker.
Well, that’s what coming, but what’s here? What’s now? Why the next Essential entry into our little contest to win a sexy ass Society shirt… What better way to start off this exciting weekend, eh? This one comes from wonderful member and music geek center52. Yet another gem of an essentials collection, some of my favourite songs ever are included, but you’ll notice center’s collection is decidedly filled with some older songs, I think the newest song is “The Bleeding Heart Show” by New Pornographers. So what does that mean? What does that say about center? To me (and unlike me) it means that songs need more than a few months, or even a year, to develop the weight required to become an essential, a “must hear before you die” song… A glaring contrast to my impulsive tendencies (you’ll see… Sunset Rubdown’s Random Spirit Lover WILL be regarded as the next In The Aeroplane Over The Sea!) and another example of how something like a mixtape is so much more than a collection of songs… they truly are forms of expression.
Still listening and man, It’s a fantastic mixtape, as I type Wilco is playing “Jesus, Etc.” and I’m smiling like an idiot (I tend to do that alot, don’t I?). So, thank you center52 for setting us up right for the weekend. To you folks wandering the internet looking for good music & good times, start here and then when you tongue starts begging for me, come on into our little society, it’s a smorgasbord of deliciousness just waiting to fill your grumpy tummy with all kinds of sweet pleasures!
