If you come here today looking for the Kaiser Chiefs or Mercury Rev leaks or whatever, well sorry to disappoint but all the latest trickling good times will have to wait for now because last night our new Vinyl Society Shirts designed and provided by our incomparably talented vinyl society member captgeech came in!

I ordered a reddish heathered ringer, baby got the white burn-out that she graciously modeled, bringin’ the hawtness, for today’s photo up above (and for the Society Shirts button over there on the left). Damn, she looks hot! We both got “Drop The Needle”, it was both of our favourite AND we are cheesy like that, so fuck off! Ha! Anyway, that’s just one design, there are four in all, and they are through his zazzle site. Oh and important to note, all profits & monies made go toward supporting a great graphic artist (they don’t come here), so go show the capt some love and show off your love of vinyl (two birds with one stone? Sweet!)…

Note: No birds were harmed in the making of this post

Well, as if the shirts weren’t enough, the capt brought the vinyl sweetness the other day, and I couldn’t think of a better opportunity to share it than this, amirite? He ripped us a little Ben Folds action by way of his 2001 release Rockin’ the Suburbs. Now, personally, I never got into Ben Folds, but then again, I never really tried. During the height of his popularity, I was stuck on my 80s and 90s bands & albums. Fortunately, being broke and having to sell my music off, and also have my music collection stolen, helped to start my rebirth into modern music and break the complacency and stalemate.

I’ve seen too many people get stuck in the music of their late teens and early adult life, and I was becoming one of them. So, I bought near anything and everything! Some old, some new, some because that guy who was on that one album I liked help produce something on this album or whatever… some things stuck, something not-so-much, and, of course, most of it was crap. Not much has changed over the years, you could say I’m now stuck “not being stuck” (if that makes any sense, probably not), I’ll try anything twice, and this vinyl rip, capt’s first (ripped via the headphones jack to Garage Band on his Mac), is as good a place as any to give Folds a go.

So what do you say? Why don’t ya hop in my old ’80 Pontiac Sunbird (my first car), let’s turn that jimmy-rigged $20 Western Auto car stereo up to 10 (with $20 amplifier), get those speakers I pulled out of the basement that used to belong to my dad’s house stereo that are now tied into the back of the hatchback a-pumpin’ and cruise around this middle-class neighborhood as the…

Great post, great T’s! There is a great track called “You Don’t Know Me”, by Ben Folds and Regina Spektor that you should check out. Regina’s voice is amazing!
