TSURURADIO Presents… The Yes Album on Vinyl!!!

Starship trooper, go sailing on by,
Catch my soul, catch the very night.
Hide the moment from my eager eyes.
Though you’ve seen them, please don’t tell a soul.
What you cant see, can’t be very whole…

Hope you enjoyed our special re-presenting of members-only vinyl rip #10. I ended up burning it on CD and jamming out to vinyl in the car! LOL. Rather surreal to hear a needle drop in the car, hear a little snap, crackle, pop, and then hear that synth start up “dee-de-de-dee”…

Good times… Happy thoughts…

Speaking of prog, let’s got back about 37 years and do another vinyl rip, another from my favourite and seminal prog-band, Yes. This time around it’s 1971’s The Yes Album, first with guitar god Steve Howe, and man do they use the hell out of him. From a dual acoustic guitar sounding live solo called “Clap” to my very favourite moment, part III of “Starship Trooper” called “Würm”… That’s air guitar heaven right there! Even now, when I ripped the vinyl and while listening at work, my left hand goes up to play some “chord”, while my right hand holding an imaginary pick loosely strums along, as the melody just builds and builds until that huge outro solo, with that MASSIVE Squire bass foundation, takes over, enticing goose-bumps, a ridiculous smile, an air guitar solo for the ages, and, dare I say, a bit of head-banging (enough to get any metal-head laughing their ass off).

Look, I know it’s not cool to like Yes, but I dare you to try not to… What’s not to love? Long complicated songs that go from folk to pop to rock to jazz without blinking an eye while singing about love & spaceships! Okay, okay, I promise not to tell anyone and if anyone ask, just tell them you are listening to the new one by Fuck Biscuits or something (there seems to be a Fuck trend in band names going on for some reason… I miss the animal name trend). You’ll gain elitist cool points AND help usher in more prog love. We both win! Yay!

So, go on, enjoy as..

I’ve also noticed this trend… if you wanted to construct the ultimate trendy franken-alternaband name at the moment it would have to be the ***Twilight Fuck***!

I don’t care how uncool it is to like Yes. I’ve always loved them. Chris Squire is a-mazing.

    Thanks for the vinyl.
