And I don’t get caught in last year’s shiver…

This one kinda threw me off… with a name like The Donkeys, I had no idea what to expect, outside a chance of a bit of stupidity (really? The Donkeys? Oh well, to each his own, eh?). So, I loaded up Living On The Other Side and the sounds of a band getting started, like they were recording their practice, came on. Okay…. but then the strums slowly took over, but it was that lumbering country bass going bah buh-bah-buh-bah-buh-bah-b-bu-buh and a smile krept along my face. I knew I was in for a nice time, maybe a bit o’ country? maybe a bit o’ rock? but definitely a little low and lazy. As the album unfolded I was transported to some 70’s easy countrified rock that just drifted along, drifted me along, with it’s easy harmonies, (probably) old-style dungarees, and they way it makes me wish I was outside taking advantage of a summer that is quickly passing by… I think I’ll go play outside now.

I don’t mind
the passing river
and I don’t get caught
in last year’s shiver
and I don’t mind
the passing river
I might end up
in a dolphin center…
