Hey members, enjoying our secret surprise vinyl rip from yesterday? Yeah, me too… But given how fresh (and so clean clean) that one was, figured a little nostalgia would be nice for a rainy Sunday. This one goes back a number of years. Back in high school nearly 20 years ago (do you have any idea how much it pains me to write that?), I listened to this record to the bone! So, it was with great glee that I found a beautifully kept used copy a few weeks back. The cover has seen better days, but the insides were just lovely.
Oh, did I mention… it’s probably one of the best “best of’s” out there? One that this guy seemed to miss for some ungodly reason. Yep, I’m talking about (if the title of this post didn’t give it away) Simon And Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits! I’m not the biggest fan of greatest hits albums, but sometimes, for some bands, if you are only going to have one album by a band, maybe a best of isn’t the worst way to go.
How many people fell in love with Leonard Cohen because of that classic best of? Or Al Green? Yeah, they aren’t always bad… So, for all you youngins that haven’t got around to Simon & Garfunkel, or for those who haven’t listened in such a long time (like myself), get ready for some good times as the needle drops and the opening moments of “Mrs. Robinson” rings in your ears as…
1. Mrs. Robinson
2. For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her
3. The Boxer
4. The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy)
5. The Sound Of Silence
6. I Am A Rock
7. Scarborough Fair / Canticle
