Sorry for no posts this weekend. My incredibly awesome in-laws were in town this weekend, bringing down some amazing bookshelves they made us. Want to see ’em? My lovely baby’s got ’em up here. It’s holding my quickly growing rebuilding of a good vinyl collection and her insane book collection (yeah, she’s read all that (plus many more you don’t see). But, with the limited space/sleeping arrangements, recording vinyl had to wait to last night… but man, what I got for ya today… well…. it’s a something special.
In fact, this is simply a masterpiece, yeah, I used that word. One of the best records of the 2000’s, if not one of the best albums ever. Perfectly constructed, executed, written, created by one of those bands that it’s impossible to say are “over-rated”, aaand, for those who’ve been around for a while, this band was the reason Tsururadio got started! I’ll also give them some credit for helping to get more people looking north to Canada for some of the most amazing music out there…. Yeah, my good friends, we are talking about Arcade Fire’s Funeral.
My only negative note to make, the pressing is not the best, edges are messy, the tracks don’t hold a perfect radius to the center-point, there’s a little glitch at the very very beginning that you quickly forget. Also, during Laika, there’s a slightly distorted half-second where the pressing is off. That’s it. Hopefully, this is exclusive to my copy…. (regardless, you get to experience what I experience, which is pretty cool) and more hopefully (is that even a phrase?) the LP will get the special treatment by Merge sooner, rather than later…
Anyway, for those familiar, get more familiar, for the uninitiated, grab, load, listen, & love, as…
TSURURADIO Presents… Funeral on Vinyl!!!
