Happy National Record Store day, my friends!!! That’s right, today, all around the nation, you need to get your ass to your local record store and support them! Most are doing something pretty special, whether it be bands, DJs, prizes, and/or special deals, and even if they aren’t, they are all trying to survive to bring you something special, records and the experience of thumbing through albums after albums, finding new releases, old gems, and everything in between… like today’s vinyl presentation.

I found this at an amazing vinyl swap meet at Kafe Kerouac a few weeks back, and it’s a classic “best of” gem, loaded with snap, crackle, and pop, a 1969 collection of some of Aretha Franklin’s most memorable songs, Aretha’s Gold. As soon as I get this loaded up, I’m getting ready and heading over to Lost Weekend Records and see what they’ve got going on for this special day (I read they are having a huge sale on used records! I hope to make out big time for us)…

Busy weekend, because after that, we and a group of friends are having wine and finger food stuffs, then heading over to the Spring 08 Agora Columbus Art Show (3pm to Midnight), for some great music, paintings, photography (one of mine is in the exhibit! it even got printed up in the local weekly Columbus Alive, woop!), performance art, and all around good times…

Alright, let’s get to it! Grab this record, let the soul-stylings of Ms. Franklin inspire you to take advantage of Record Store Day to start or add to your vinyl collection, as…
