Will you go and leave me in the song

Well, I was gonna wait until tomorrow on this one to let it absorb more, but fuck it, I’m hooked. Tapes n’ Tapes latest Walk It Off is chock full of shaky pop & rock, much of it has a distinct retro 80’s vibe to it, not in a cheesy way, in a fucking awesome way (hows that for deep music critique? fucking awesome! wheeee!!!). And with a title like Walk It Off, and their history of being a “blog band”, oh the clever titles we’ll be seeing soon, eh? “Tapes n’ Tapes get punched, but ‘walk it off'” (haha!) or “No amount of walking could get rid of the pain from listening to the latest from Tapes n’ Tapes” (for the bad reviews, because I can imagine they walk a fine line between hype and backlash)…

But I digress… sometimes frantic (with that funky bass line in “Hang Them All”), sometimes just pretty (Mmm… “Time Of Songs”), sometimes a bit noisy (“Le Ruse” le fuck yeah!), but always melodic (check out that guitar riff on “Conquest”, oh man). Yeah…

Will you go and leave me in the song
I’ll be hiding
I’ll be on
cue for
spaces that can bring me from the wrong
take the light, love
make it strong…
