I think I need to stop promising things in specific times… My intention was to get our latest member vinyl rip (why aren’t you a member yet???) up yesterday, then get mine up today. Instead, we painted our living room (a beautiful shade of orange/red clay), as well as ran errands devoted to painting the living room. Not to mention we went for a walk/photo-shoot yesterday, and I’ve got another shoot today. And…. iTunes broke (I bought an external hard-drive and screwed up iTunes, man I hate iTunes, but the iPod is my player of choice (it has the most external accessories, and if you remember, I “DJ’ed” my own wedding, etc, etc). Well, needless to say, we are all fixed, and our member rip is uploaded, and all that’s left for me to do is jibber-jabber about it… Let’s get to it.
NOTE: As I write this, I am recording my next two, count ’em, TWO vinyl rips. One for you, the casual Tsururadio fan, and the second will be a special treat for members only! My way of saying “thanks” (see I told you membership has it’s priveledges)…
Alright, today’s very interesting vinyl rip comes from member Wutt and it surprised me a bit, due to my own ignorance. You see, Wutt ripped (quite wonderfully, I might add) The Whitest Boy Alive’sDreams and it’s quite good! Why did it surprise me? I’ve heard of The Whitest Boy Alive, but never heard them and had no intention of listening for one stupid reason, I hate the name “The Whitest Boy Alive”. Really? That’s what you came up with? Well, it’s not the first time my occasional musical ignorance has got in my way of enjoying something (see my Nada Surf post). Well, thanks to Wutt, I’m all set straight! Hey Wutt, why this album?
“I’m a big fan of Erlend Øye, I especially love The Kings Of Convenience, and it was on January when a friend gave me this album, after listening to the album and enjoying the live performances of the band (they gave 4 gigs in Mexico City and stayed in the country for months), you find that this project and this album is about friendship, I really enjoy listening to this album because it reminds me of all of my friends, all these great and funny moments with your friends, believe me after listening to the album you’re gonna call all your buddies.”
Nice… I love it when people stop being so analytical about the music they are listening to and let the emotional component override. But why vinyl?
“Well the order of the tracklist its better in this version than in the cd, everything fits perfect, the problem with the CD is that a couple of songs got lost with their mood, which makes this experience totally different and more pleaseant. My favourite song is the first one¨burning¨, its the best way to start this album and also has the classic lyrics from Erlend Øye.”
I love that attention to detail, when a band sees that an album’s tracklisting is more than just a list of songs on the album, the tracklisting can make or break an album and our glorious vinyl has at least two tracklistings to think about!
