I couldn’t drink enough to make this make sense

A blast from the past, thanks to pervy-ninja (& good friend) Jodi for reminding me of this gem. We were all out the other week when somehow (I’m really not sure how) “Jagged” by Old 97’s became part of the conversation. Suddenly we both wanted to hear it! My copy was long lost, but thanks to the used record stores that sell through Amazon, $4 and a week later I got my present in the mail.

I forgot how amazing this album is! I must’ve listened to it 3 times in a row yesterday while cleaning up the house (and I’m listening again this morning). The whole thing flows wonderfully, not a bad one in there… Teetering between pop, rock, country, and bar band, Old 97’s Fight Songs from wayback in 1999, is easily today’s obsession. Trying to think of how many mornings I drove into work back then singing the hell out of this album. Yeah, good times…

Enjoy!

Old 97’s – Jagged
Old 97’s – Lonely Holiday
Old 97’s – Oppenheimer
Old 97’s – Indefinitely
Old 97’s – What We Talk About
Old 97’s – Crash On A Barrelhead

What remains of the day
remains to be seen

By the TV that we never turn on

Each other’s enough
I never had it so rough

Ever since I been gone
White noise swells in my head

Making me worry it’s the summertime

But it’s the dead of the fall it’s the dead of the night

Hell yes I mind

I would give anything
not to feel so jagged
I’d give anything
not to feel so jagged

I’d give anything not to feel so jagged

I couldn’t drink enough to make this make sense
But I think I’m gonna give it a try

There’s no settling down
there’s only driving downstate

So I drive

I would give anything
not to feel so jagged
I’d give anything
not to feel so jagged

I’d give anything not to feel so jagged

I’d give anything not to feel so jagged…

Go show the Old 97’s some love here, here, and here, now!
