This song is called Mother’s Day

Goddamn, this album is good…

Coming off like some sick hybrid of Bob Dylan & Violent Femmes, Ezra Furman and the Harpoons has put out a fucked up beauty of a folk/country/punk album. By now, after a quick scan on the internets, I’m sure Ezra has got to be sick of the Gordon Gano (and Dylan) comparisons, but just listen to the introduction to Mother’s Day and it’s hard not to think of Gano and pine for a new Violent Femmes album… But let’s not dwell (we’ll get to linger on Gano & the Femmes later on this week withour next vinyl rip), this is a wonderful album in it’s own right. Loaded with urgency and sincerity, coming right at you, smacking the shit out of your face, with nary an instrument plugged in anywhere. Yeah, I love this shit! I’d write more, but I’d rather just go listen and get this week started…
