Flying west as the sun tries to set is an experience to enjoy if you ever find yourself in the situation.
I had just finished Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris and was about 20 pages into I, Lucifer by Glen Duncan, when I just put it all down, leaned back, twisted to my left and watch the battle as the plane flew east heading home, after hours of delays. How often do you get to experience a sunset in slow motion?
We almost beat it, we almost had the sun matched, but our plane was “too heavy” and had to burn off some fuel, circling the city a few times, the equivalent of twisting your ankle in the last hundred yards of a race. Disappointing, to be sure, but we put a good fight and gave it our all didn’t we?
The soundtrack for the epic battle was Kevin Drew’s recently leaked album Spirit If… From the collective of Broken Social Scene rises a wonderful album from one of it’s main components that has so much to offer, I still haven’t digested it all and I’m four listens in.
Grab this gem, go find your own sunset, and enjoy.
She’s the reason why I try to make it tonight
Ooo… I know we’re gonna be the lucky ones
More love for Spirit If…
